Nico Velo uses pristine materials such as sand and gravel from the Brenta riverbed and has been making concrete tanks and precast for almost 90 years proving their craftsmanship worldwide. What is special about the Nico Velo tanks?
- Nico Velo builds Monolithic Concrete Tanks: A construction method where concrete is poured in one continuous, seamless piece to increase structural strength. Using sophisticated molds that are visually beautiful and functional. The walls are thick and there is a lot of rebar steel frame for extra reinforcement. It will be worth every penny. Our tanks are heavy and built to last a very long time.
- Nico Velo concrete vats allow the wine to have maximum expression of the varietal intrinsic characteristics developing good mid palate structure, and gives greater integrity to the wine’s fruity and floral notes.
- Nico Velo patented many years ago the use of thermoregulating glycol tubes embedded in the tank's walls and floor. Industry leaders with the most efficient multi tube system.
- Unlike some competitors, This concrete allows the right amount of Micro-Oxygenation. During its maturation, concrete incorporates tiny air voids that allow the gradual diffusion of very small amounts of oxygen into the wine placed within it without any invasive intervention.

The original Tulipe is the most famous Nico Velo tank shape, installed in wineries across the world. Available either with rounded interior floor (like an egg) or with 3% sloped flat floor suitable to ferment red grapes and age wine.

ELEGANCE
Introduced in 2020 the Atlas tank combines multiple geometrical shapes. It has a square profile but each side is rounded and the top is like a truncated pyramid. Internal 3% sloped floor suitable to ferment red grapes and age wine.
Available from 1,056gal (40hl) up to 1,585gal (60hl).
